Love in the Time of Corona

Newly divorced and adjusting to living alone in lockdown, 30-something Yasmine turns to online dating but there is something oddly familiar about who she meets in this darkly humorous piece.
Never Been Away
by Shahid Iqbal Khan
30-year-old Tabish, a British Bangladeshi man, leaves behind his boyfriend and returns to Bradford at the height of the pandemic to care for his vulnerable mum and dad. This piece explores intergenerational tensions, the role of carers, the challenges involved in accessing healthcare services and the human face of the NHS.

With Liverpool FC finally ending 19 years of hurt, this piece is told from the perspective of a football mad scouser – who happens to be a young hijabi woman – and describes events in Liverpool; from the Tory failings and mass testing initiatives to the jubilant, yet muted Premier League celebrations.

Change explores a person’s relationship to place and home. When the planets and stars align and force you to return to the place you detest, how do you deal with having all of the things which made you leave thrown back in your face?
