Shahid Iqbal Khan

Writer

Shahid Iqbal Khan’s foray into creative writing began with a short play for Carol Godby’s Festival of Plays (Met Theatre, Bury). He then joined the Manchester Muslim Writers’ group, a collective that inspired him to explore and compose poetry.

He was Associate Artist for Phizzical Productions and he wrote the play, The Smile of Despair (Attenborough Arts Centre) and co-wrote Stardust (Belgrade Theatre). He is an alumni of Graeae Theatre’s Write To Play programme. His play 10 Nights has been commissioned by Graeae, Tamasha and Bush, and will run at Bush Theatre.

He was part of the 2020/21 Writers Group at Royal Court Theatre, a writing group run in partnership with Deafinitely Theatre.

Shahid Iqbal Khan’s audio credits include The Return – an audio piece for That Podcast by English Touring Theatre and Fremantle’s Storyglass – and the episode Bhavika, for Naked Productions’ series of 5 shorts, Connections. Connections played on community radio channels to around 17, 000 listeners.

He is also part of the Writers Access Group 2020/21 at BBC Writersroom.
