Tahir Hassan
Tahir Hassan is a British-Afghan actor, writer and director. He graduated from The BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in 2024 with a Distinction in Theatre Studies, where he played key roles in a string of productions like The Seagull, Hamlet and Mary Stuart. He also had his work Thirty-Four Vermilion Sunsets produced and performed, an original play set at the height of The War on Terror and about the harrowing effects of conflict and displacement on families. Since then, Tahir has continued to develop as an artist with a range of projects, both self-initiated and through organized schemes. He’s been a part of training programmes like Theatre Peckham Originate and Hackney Empire Writers’ Room. Across a number of short films, one of which was developed with the NFTS, he has also worked across performance and creative roles, further strengthening his craft as a screen actor and filmmaker.
He is especially interested in creating socially complex and politically driven work, predominantly based around his faith and culture. Tahir feels there is an urgent gap in the industry for authentic Muslim narratives and wants to use his voice as a creative to fill it in. He is confident that his experience with Tara Theatre will help him champion these stories with honesty and care.
