Kent Okwesa
Kent Okwesa is a Black British Nigerian queer and trans writer, performer, and filmmaker whose work centers intimacy, imagination, and refusal. Rooted in a background as a professional theatre actor, Kent approaches storytelling from the audience’s pulse—crafting work that is emotionally immediate, visually bold, and unapologetically tender.
As a writer, Kent is committed to telling stories rarely afforded scale or care in British film and television: Black queer romances, interior lives, and chosen families. Their scripts span short films, features, and episodic television, frequently employing meta‑storytelling, fantasy, and musical elements to question who gets to be desired, remembered, and centered. Kent is particularly interested in horror, drama, romance, and fantasy as tools to excavate longing and fear.
