Due to the horrific war taking place in Gaza, ASHTAR Theatre (Ramallah) has launched an urgent request to all its friends and theatre makers around the world to present The Gaza Monologues as part of the UN International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The Gaza Monologues are testimonies written by ASHTAR youth in 2010, after the first war on the Gaza Strip.
Tragically, these monologues are still relevant today. They highlight the horrors, hopes and resilience of Gazans to a wider audience, giving voice to the courageous children and people in Gaza. We, a grassroots collective of artists, unite in support with the people in Palestine. Join us at Tara Theatre in solidarity and to bear witness. There will also be some time to reflect. Alongside this, we present monologues from Gaza from October 2023 with Az Theatre (London), who have been in direct partnership with Theatre for Everybody (Gaza) since 2009. All funds raised from this event will go to ASHTAR Theatre (Ramallah), Theatre for Everybody (Gaza) and Freedom Theatre (Jenin).
Participants include:
Hannah Abdule, Zena Agha, Osama Al Azzeh, Sofia Amir, Omar Bynon, Taghrid Choucair-Vizoso, Waleed Elgadi, Laura Hanna, Bilal Hasna, Luca Kamleh-Chapman, Nadi kemp-Sayfi, Lubaba Khalid, Ruth Lass, Laura Percival, Kareem Samara, Lara Sawalha, Joel Samuels.
