Tara Theatre proudly present The Comedy Lab, in collaboration with Brown Sauce.

BROWN SAUCE is known for its spicy, unfiltered humour that leaves audiences in stitches. It’s an exciting comedy night that champions and celebrates underrepresented South Asian comedic voices. Returning to Tara Theatre, this hilarious event is hosted by Sharlin Jahan and gives a platform to develop and stage new South Asian comedians on the comedy circuit.

Sukh Ojla’s stand-up television appearances include The Laura Whitmore Breakfast Show (ITV), The Big Asian Stand-Up Show (BBC Two), Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV), Comedy Central Live and Comedy Guide to Life (Dave). Her debut solo show, For Sukh’s Sake, earned rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, followed by her critically acclaimed nationwide tour Life Sukhs. As an actor, her credits include a regular role in Piglets (ITV), alongside Feel Good (Channel 4), Bridgerton (Netflix), The End of the F**ing World* (Channel 4), GameFace (Channel 4), Hospital People (BBC One), Black Mirror, EastEnders (BBC One), Silent Roar (BBC Films) and Victoria and Abdul (Working Title).

Joining Sukh for a special guest spot is Joshua Bethania, a stand-up comedian from India and one of the most exciting voices on the UK comedy circuit. Winner of So You Think You’re Funny?, Joshua was a BBC New Comedy Awards finalist in 2022, the same year he won King Gong at The Comedy Store and became a NATYS finalist. He has also appeared across BBC, Channel 4, OFTV and Comedy Central.

Hosted by Sharlin Jahan (BBC 4‘s The Now Show, BBC Essex Radio), a Bangladeshi, British, and Canadian Comedian who loves telling (yelling) at people about these things at pubs.

The Comedy Lab brings together eight emerging South Asian comedians for a free, one-day development workshop led by established comedians and industry mentors. The workshop gives participants the opportunity to develop new material, hone their stand-up skills and build confidence ahead of their live performance.

The 2026 Comedy Lab participants are: Anish J, Chin Siri, Isabella, Raj Pander, Reese Patel, Saloni Gupta, Shugufta Choudhry and Yasser Kayani.
