Tara Theatre For Afghanistan

An evening of live art in aid of Women for Afghan Women. 

The devastating crisis in Afghanistan has forced nearly 400,000 Afghans to flee their homes, towns and provinces seeking safer refuge. Tara Theatre’s vision is a world where equity and social justice is the new normal which is why we will be holding an evening of live art in aid of Women for Afghan Women. 

Tara Theatre for Afghanistan be hosted by the inimitable Nadia Javed who has spent the past decade fronting the all-female band The Tuts and has toured with the likes of Kate Nash and The Specials. There will also be a special performance from Nadia on the night! Alongside Nadia’s set will be performances from Stand and Be Counted Theatre, poet and writer Shareefa Energy, Roundhouse Slam Champion Zia Ahmed, a reading from Alia Bano’s Parwana with Leah Vanmali and Nikhita Lesler and lots more!

And that’s not all – there will be also be a super exciting raffle that you will be able to enter into! Prizes that have been generously donated include:

  • English National Opera: A Voucher for the VIP Experience Prize which includes a preshow tour of the London Coliseum and 4 tickets in an exclusive box  for an ENO performance
  • Akram Khan Company: 2 tickets for the Jungle Book’s premier at the Leicester Curve (7-9 April 2022). An opportunity to attend a creation rehearsal for this new production prior to its premiere in late February or early March at English National Ballet quarters in London. Dinner with dancer and choreographer Akram Khan MBE
  • Donmar Warehouse: 2 tickets to a special guest event for their new season, including a drinks reception and performance
  • East is East: 2 tickets for the production by Ayub Khan Din directed by Iqbal Khan at either the Birmingham REP or National Theatre
  • Wise Children: 2 tickets for their UK touring production of ‘Wuthering Heights’ directed by Emma Rice
  • Unicorn Theatre: 4 tickets for their Christmas Cracker of a family show ‘The Bolds’ written and adapted for the stage by Julian Clary directed by Lee Lyford
  • Hackney Empire Pantomime: An exclusive box to watch the Empire’s legendary pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’
  • Jords: 2 tickets to rapper, singer, writer, producer Jords’ upcoming UK tour
  • Rudimental: 2 tickets to any performance of Rudimental’s upcoming UK tour
  • The Javaad Alipoor Company: 2 tickets to a production, access to the rehearsal room and behind the scenes process, dinner with Javaad Alipoor

All proceeds will go to Women for Afghan Women who are currently working day and night to provide safe shelter, resources and aid to the thousands of women, children and families who are in desperate need of it.
