Aisha Rana-Deshmukh
Aisha Rana-Deshmukh is a writer, dancer, creative and community worker who is currently studying an MA in Race, Ethnicity and Post Colonial studies at University College London with a research focus on the anti-fascist potentiality of plants and connecting to land.
With a background of working with young people and survivors of gender-based violence, dance, movement and being with the body is a crucial part of resistance and healing for Aisha.
They champion accessible and inclusive movement, when facilitating dance spaces for all abilities, ages and bodies. She is self-taught in the shaadi halls of her childhood and has a passion for Bhangra and re-imagining classical and folk South Asian dance forms.
Aisha wants to move in community more and currently dances with their queer brown dance collective BDS ALLSTARS when she’s not pottering about the garden.
