Gairika Mathur
Gairika Mathur, a lawyer by profession and a passionate Indian Classical dancer namely, Odissi dance practitioner, who has established herself as a remarkable soloist with her captivating performances gracing prestigious stages around the world such as the British Army, the Indian High Commission, Nehru Centre, the Houses of Parliament, New Scotland Yard, Reading University, Watford Palace Theatre, Grosvenor House, Tabernacle Festival.
She has established her Institute Nritya Alaap in the year 2018 to disseminate the knowledge of the Odissi dance form, while concurrently fostering artistic excellence, by collaborating with artists across diverse mediums and platforms. Guided by the belief that dance possesses the transformative power to empower individuals and enhance their lives, Gairika has engaged in educational and therapeutic contexts, extending the benefits of dance movements and creativity to the broader society. She has also worked with renowned Indian classical vocalists and flautists in three music videos.
By actively engaging in projects where dance is utilized as a therapeutic medium, she continually disseminates the transformative power of dance to heal and uplift individuals. Gairika’s mission to spread the joy and healing of Odissi dance underscores her commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives through her artistry and passion. In 2024, she received the “She Inspires” Award at the Houses of Parliament for her unwavering dedication to Odissi, and as a recognition of her skill and the positive influence she has had both within the dance community and beyond.
