The play narrates the story of an immigrant Bengali woman living in London who thinks of herself as ‘Draupadi,’ a key character from the Indian mythological epic of the Mahabharata. Performed in 5 Acts, the play delves into our everyday personal struggles of ‘feelings’ versus ‘commitment’ and how we are made to negotiate our choices. Different styles and forms of dance such as Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Flamenco and Physical Theatre converge in this performance piece making it a unique dance-theatre ensemble that explores the complex dynamics of love, longing, desire and reciprocity evolving in a polyamorous mindscape vis-à-vis “womanhood” in a fractured post-modern world.
