Ishani Jasmin
Ishani Jasmin (she/her) is an organiser, facilitator, and community musician working in London. Her focus in recent years has been on diversifying the London music scene and encouraging marginalised communities to make music – through festivals including First Timers Fest and Decolonise Fest, charity-led programmes like Girls Rock! London and Key Changes, and through founding and leading Decolonise Choir, a choir for and by POC.
They also front their punk band, Breakup Haircut, where they have toured with larger bands including The Wedding Present and Big Joanie and played venues including Shepherds Bush O2 and the Southbank Centre.
In her spare time, Ishani writes poetry (having previously self-published a zine/poetry anthology and a graphic novella), is a keen amateur ceramicist, weightlifter, and theatregoer, and volunteers with her local food bank and Citizens UK chapter towards nationwide civic action concerning the Living Wage.
