Kristine Landon-Smith

Kristine Landon-Smith is as an educator and director working across the industry. She co-founded Tamasha Theatre with Sudha Bhuchar in 1989. As Co-Artistic Director (until 2012), she directed all but one of the company’s shows. Her 1996 production East is East was nominated for an Olivier award and her original production of Fourteen Songs, Two Weddings and a Funeral won the Barclays Theatre Award for Best New Musical.

Her freelance directing credits include the Royal Court Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Palace Theatre Westcliff and The Royal Danish Theatre, where she directed the Con:FUSIONS workshop aimed at developing cultural diversity in Scandinavian theatre. Her recent works include Summer Rolls by Tuyen Do (Park Theatre and Bristol Old Vic 2019), Vishwamitri Villas, an experimental improvised film about young domestics in India (2021) and Looking For You, a headphone verbatim film about the Vietnamese diaspora seen through the lens of the mother daughter relationship in Vietnamese culture (2022).
