Meet Your Neighbours: Community Theatre Group

Meet new people at free creative sessions.

Meet Your Neighbours is Tara Theatre’s free community theatre group for local residents interested in theatre and performance.

This year, participants will take part in creative workshops over 10 weeks to create a brand-new performance inspired by the theme ‘Echoes of Earlsfield’.

WHAT IS IT?

Your stories. Your neighbourhood. Your point of view. At the end of the programme the piece will be performed in your beautiful local theatre (Tara Theatre!) to an audience, making it the perfect opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, build up your confidence and create a piece of theatre with your neighbours.

Sessions will feature different storytelling skills. Previously in the programme this has included writing, movement, music, collaboration, voiceover, craft works, poetry and more.

No experience is required, this is a safe place to experiment and try new things!

We’re inviting you to bring your existing skills, knowledge and stories to share them in the space.

WHEN IS IT?

Our community theatre group will meet every Friday morning from 10.30am – 12.30pm for a session led by professional theatre-makers.

Sessions will begin on Fri 3 Oct and run until Fri 28 Nov, culminating in a showcase on Fri 5 Dec.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

Local residents aged 16 or older.

Anyone who has an interest in the arts and wants to connect with the local community is fully eligible to come along and take part!

No previous acting or performance experience is necessary.

To join, register to book your place via our sign-up form below.

We highly recommend booking your place in advance.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

To get the most out of the programme we encourage participants to attend all 10 sessions.

Meet Your Neighbours is a project aiming to address isolation and loneliness for those in our local community. As such we have the option to drop-in to any of the sessions across the programme.

If you are nervous or anxious about taking part you are welcome to join any of our sessions as a drop-in throughout the entire programme. There is no commitment to perform in the showcase at the end of the programme if you don’t want to. Our primary goal is to welcome you into our building, a space that is a community hub for you. A place where you can meet new people in your local community.
