This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and values-led leader to help guide the future of one of the UK’s leading voices for South Asian artists and stories.
We’re looking for a strategic Chair of the Board of Trustees who can provide thoughtful leadership, strong governance and meaningful support to Tara Theatre’s co-CEOs and Board. The role will suit someone who enjoys shaping organisational direction, building partnerships and championing the cultural impact of the arts.
It’s a pivotal moment to join Tara Theatre. As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2027 and prepare for our next Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation application, we are entering an important period of strategic growth and celebration. As the oldest Global Majority-led theatre company in the UK, Tara Theatre remains committed to its activist roots, producing bold theatre and creating a more equitable cultural landscape for historically underrepresented artists and audiences.
We are keen to appoint someone who shares our mission and values, and who is passionate about supporting South Asian and Global Majority artists, stories and leadership within the UK cultural sector. We actively encourage applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
This is a voluntary, unremunerated role with reasonable expenses covered. The time commitment is approximately 2–3 days per month, including four Board meetings each year and occasional strategic engagement with the organisation and its partners.
