Shugufta Choudhry is a BBC New Comedy Award Finalist 2025 who reached the competition after only a handful of stand-up performances. Since beginning to gig regularly in 2026, she has quickly built momentum, with many bookings coming through recommendations. A British Asian comedian with a distinctive deadpan style, Shugufta blends everyday life and cultural observations with surreal, slow-burn storytelling, taking seemingly ordinary situations in increasingly unexpected and ridiculous directions. Quietly breaking cultural expectations along the way, she’s apologetic, unconventional and probably thinking something nobody else in the room is.
