Sagar Shah
Sagar has worked in cultural communications for 15 years. He’s currently at the Greater London Authority, working across the Mayor’s flagship London Borough of Culture programme and several other creative industries initiatives. Prior to this he was Press Manager for Contemporary Music and Culture at Southbank Centre. As Communications Manager at Battersea Arts Centre, he managed the campaigns around the reopening of its largest space after a devastating fire and Battersea Arts Centre’s launch as the world’s first Relaxed venue – with accessible principles embedded into every aspect of its operation.
He worked for several years in both the music and central communications teams at the Barbican and has had stints at charities including the PRS for Music Foundation. He took a circuitous route into communications – gathering weird and wonderful experiences managing a record label, promoting live concerts, producing music videos, and working in live television. He’s a Clore Leadership alumni, trustee of Protein Dance and a director of Culture Comms – the UK’s only conference for PRs working in the culture sector. He is passionate about creativity driving social change and the civic role of cultural organisations.
