Malini Raman-Middleton
Malini is an actor and filmmaker based in Catford, South London. Malini studied film production at London Screen Academy and is an alumnus of Ghetto Film School. Growing up in a mixed Hindu and Jewish family and a culturally and economically diverse part of London, Malini uses film to explore identity, belonging and social justice. Malini’s short film ‘Jhumki’ was shortlisted for the UK Asian Film Festival 2024 and won the Philadelphia Youth Film festival. Malini was selected for the Soho Theatre Writer’s lab where they wrote ‘Period Drama’ which she is currently developing. She recently worked on Abaayo, a short film directed in Vancouver with Ghetto Film School which is currently in post-production. Her interest in film began through art and visuals which then led me down the route of moving images and film. Malini has always enjoyed working in groups and collaboration with other people which has greatly helped her film development.
