Andrea Somasundram

Andrea Somasundram/ DJ SriVibe is first generation of Sri Lankan heritage and is from Tottenham in North London.

Inspired by her Mum’s love of music, dances her Dad put on in the 70’s and 80’s. Also, growing up around the sound system movement and not forgetting the underground pirate radio. Her cousin who was a Soul and Jazz Funk DJ and her brother is also a Drum ‘n Bass DJ and played on one of the first pirate radio stations, Pulse FM.

“I started buying music at the age of seven and never looked back”

Growing up in Tottenham enriched her musical palate from Reggae, Soul, Hip Hop, Country and Western, Rock, Disco, Drum’n’Bass, Jazz, Byla, the list goes on”. Her passion for music is not just a hobby but a way of life!

DJ SriVibe has played across many London’s music venues over the last 30 years, putting on nights and collaborating with DJ’s and musicians. She worked with the F-IRE collective’s Barak Schmooll on a series of live music events.

DJ SriVibe has played at many charity and community events, including ‘African and Asian Awareness Day’- The Thomas Coram Foundation’s, ‘Jazz @ the Taj’, ‘Whizz Kidz’s, ‘Amalgamate’ Amnesty International’s , ‘Justice for Women’, ‘Emma Humphrey’s Memorial’, to mention a few.

She has been involved in events management and was part of a team who put on a fundraising event for Tsunami of 2004 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Guests included Bluey and Imani from Incognito, Marcina Arnold, Sanchita Farruque and the late great Ty.
